Palingenia, whose name of Greek origin evokes regeneration and rebirth, is a new publishing house founded in 2022. It offers high-quality fiction and nonfiction, cultural stories, unpublished titles, and books that are meticulously edited in both content and graphics.

Unlike contemporary publishers primarily scouting modern authors and focusing on current social and cultural phenomena, Palingenia views publishing mainly as a “recovery” of forgotten classics, out-of-print titles, and books that have been lost in the market, often only found at antique dealers and libraries.

Palingenia targets passionate and eclectic readers, the so-called “strong readers,” who seek quality publishing not only online but especially in physical bookstores, whether independent or chain.

Editorial recovery, or “author repêchage” in publishing terms, involves more than merely repurposing a book. Instead, it is about presenting it in a way that captures contemporary readers, who are often demanding, informed, and curious. With refined graphic choices, elegant visual care, and high-quality printing, Palingenia views the book as an aesthetic object and experience that provides intellectual as well as physical joy in reading.

Our catalogue includes:
• Classics in new translations by Italy’s top translators, often in bilingual editions.
• Contemporary fiction, primarily from Italy and Germany, and works of fiction from the recent past that have inexplicably vanished and are only found on the secondary or antiquarian market and in public libraries, but deserve to be brought back to light.
• Important works of nonfiction ranging from philosophy to history, cultural anthropology to literature, mainly from Italy, Germany, and Northern Europe.
• Works from rarely translated countries and lesser-explored literary regions, such as China.
• Unique works that defy classification, including valuable testimonies in the form of biographies, autobiographies, memoirs, epistolaries, correspondence, and documents, as well as illustrated books, including those for children.
